description: |
| Every
day in April, between noon and 5 P.M.,
a different artist will create a painting, drawing,
collage, or print in the medium of his or her choice. |
| Artists
will work in the front-window area of Muse
Art and Design. The public is
invited to drop in each day to watch as artists create
their paintings and drawings. |
| As
each piece is finished, works will be displayed on
the walls of Muse Art and Design. Bid
sheets will accompany each art piece. The public may
bid on works
by silent auction from April 1 through May 22. Minimum
bid for each work will start at $75, with bids increasing
in increments of $10. |
| A
reception for artists and the public will be held on
Wednesday, May 22 from 6:30 to
9:30 P.M. The
auction will continue through the reception and will
close at the end
of the evening. |
| All
funds raised will benefit
Schoolhouse
Supplies,
a free store where public school teachers can obtain
supplies for their classrooms at no cost. Muse Art and
Design
will use funds raised from the sale of artwork to purchase
art supplies at wholesale cost for Schoolhouse Supplies. |
| Artists
will receive 50% of the winning bid price for their
work. |
|
 |
| information
for artists: |
| Online
application will be available beginning January 13.
Applications must be submitted electronically by February
20. |
| Artists
may work in any 2-dimensional* medium with the style and
subject of their choice. A 16"x20" surface (canvas
or primed panel) suitable
to the chosen medium will be provided along with basic
tools (brushes, rags, containers, etc.) and a basic
palette
of the following media: |
 |
oil
colors, acrylics, watercolors, encaustic paint, graphite,
charcoal, markers, inks, colored pencils, pastels, collage
materials. Special
thanks to M.Graham & Co. for
providing oils, acrylics
and watercolors.
*
Due to space limitations for display, all works must
be
in a format that can be hung on a wall. Sculptural
pieces that can be mounted on a 16x20 panel are acceptable,
but we cannot accomodate free-standing 3-dimensional
pieces. |
| Artists are welcome to bring additional supplies
to supplement the materials provided. |
| Artists will work at a work station (easel,
stool/chair, table space) in the front-window area of Muse
Art and Design. The public will be invited to watch. |
| Ideally,
works will be created as much as possible from start
to finish during the hours of noon to 5 P.M. on the
day
each artist is scheduled. By
arrangement, artists may pick up their surface beforehand
and/or
take it with them to continue working for up to two additional
days. Provided
tools and supplies are available for use while working
at Muse Art and Design only |
| Artists
will receive 50% of the winning bid price for their
work. Minimum
starting bid for all works will be $75. Artists may
elect to donate all or part of their percentage to
Schoolhouse
Supplies. |
| Each
artist will have a page on this site including a
brief bio and statement, pictures of work, and a link
to
their website. |
| In
addition to listings and links on this website, artists
will be promoted wherever possible through advertisements,
printed materials,
and press coverage. Artists are
encouraged to publicize their participation in the event
through their own promotional channels. |
| Participating
artists are strongly encouraged to attend the public
reception
on the evening of May 22. |
A
kick-off party for participating artists, friends, and
event sponsors will be held the evening of Monday,
March 25. |
