Brent
Wear is a painter and illustrator who has been working and
showing in the Pacific Northwest for the past decade. He
is a native of Kansas City, MO, and moved to Portland in
1997 to pursue painting. Most noticed for his paintings of
round, toy like birds (and birds in
pants), Brent also paints abstract works, trains, helicopters, cupcakes, blackbirds,
and other creatures. His work combines the abstract and representational
into an absurd, storybook narrative, In his free time he
likes to ride his bike and bird watch. He is also very fond
of cats and trains.

| on
the importance of art: |
I was fortunate enough to attend a public school where I had great art teachers and access to the supplies that helped me realize my passion for painting. Over the past decade I have watched with great sadness as art programs are being cut across the country in public schools, because I know that without the support and encouragement I received at a young age, I probably would not be doing what I do now.
