Liz
Walker has been active in the local art scene since moving
to Portland (from Boston) with her husband and daughter in 1999.
Liz grew up in San Antonio, TX where she received her B.A.
in Art from Trinity University in 1980. She worked as
a technical
writer for 10 years before deciding to return to painting
full-time. Liz's love of acrylics and watercolor painting
led her to begin
teaching art classes in 2002, and she greatly enjoys this
role as mentor and facilitator for other artists who want
to find their own "art voice".
No matter what the medium, Liz's favorite subject matter
is fanciful people in everyday settings. |
| on
the importance of art: |
Art
is important because it stimulates the expression and
exchange of thoughts, feelings, and ideas among groups
of people. It teaches children to ask questions, fantasize
and imagine--qualities that will serve them well as
adults. |
