| bio: |
A
poet turned visual artist,Thérèse began drawing
big words on giant rolls of paper in 1997. Using an animated
range of circles, lines, and colors, she continued her work
onto stretched canvas in 2000, eventually building her signature
bright, richly textured paintings. Thérèse ís early musical training remains an influence: ìIf we could see spoken words, if we could see music, somehow see a measure of the sound, that's what I paint. |

the importance of art: |
I
paint with the belief that the body is deeply influenced
by what we see and sense around us even if our thoughts
are focused elsewhere. As is especially true in public
places where people typically are passing through from
one destination to another, handcrafted art objects
and installations provide lively encouragement, whether
consciously or unconsciously received: someone made
something for you; someone is with you; we are here
together. |
