Addie
Boswell is an artist and writer in Portland, OR, working
primarily in oil paint and paper collage. Her paintings and
murals are notable for vibrant colors and strong lines, and
her artwork is often reminiscent of childhood. Her first
picture book, The Rain Stomper, won the 2009 Oregon Spirit
Award. When not in the studio, Addie teaches hundreds of
K-12 students each year through art residencies and workshops
around the state.

the importance of art: |
I
think art’s power lies in its interaction, and
prefer to create work that is public in nature, especially
community-generated murals and children's picture books.
Artists empower others to create, both through their
own imagery and through their outreach, and creation
is like having another voice, and another way to access
and approach the world.
